 In line with the philosophy of Coelheiros, we believe that it is through the respect for natural resources and promoting the balance of cultures that we are able to produce more authentic wines.

In this sense, the best sustainable practices were adopted in Coelheiros, as part of the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program (PSVA), namely:
  • Grape production in organic production mode and implementation of practices with less environmental impact (Ex: interlocking between the lines);
  • Solar panels installation in the cellar;
  • Replacement of all lamps in the lighting system by LED lamps;
  • In order to achieve a better and more sustainable use of water, flow meters were installed to monitor consumption and monitor monthly performance;
  • Continuous training and awareness of employees to adopt good practices for rationalizing water and energy consumption;
  • Awareness posters in strategic locations for the efficient use of water resources;
  • Installation of pressure guns on all hoses;
  • Reassessment of the refrigeration circuit of the entire winery and timely maintenance of the equipment;
  • Use of steam generator for disinfection / sterilization of the filling line to reduce the use of water and consumption of disinfectant products;
  • Practice of the policy of the 3Rs - Reduction, Reuse and Recycling, privileging the reduction, whenever possible;
  • Use of barrels and corks produced with materials from Forests with Sustainable Management (FSA).
